SkillSet Supports Apprentice Winner's 'Raw Talent Academy'

— 9th November 2010, Fleet, UK

SkillSet, a specialist provider of learning services to complex multi-national companies, is providing consulting services in support of 2008 Apprentice winner Lee McQueen's first solo business venture, Raw Talent Academy.

Raw Talent Academy aims to provide SMEs and corporate organisations with the vehicle to build internal sales academies into long term staffing plans and to encourage organisations to look at the wider raw talent we have in the UK and not just graduates. SkillSet, whose clients include BP, Tesco and Lloyds Banking Group, will support Raw Talent Academy to help nurture British talent within UK companies, with the aim of providing a solid platform for mutual success.

Paul Deed, director of SkillSet, comments: “Nurturing talent is key to generating the growth that will ensure the UK continues to compete in the global marketplace. This is a very fitting time to create a company that develops raw talent for the benefit of all involved. Lee’s business is exactly what the country needs. Believing in what he is doing made the decision to support the business very easy for us – investing in the UK’s economic future is judicious, but investing in people to improve both their and the country’s outlook is crucial.”

Lee says, “This business is very close to my heart; I’m interested in investing in people and not in a piece of paper and it’s great that other organisations recognise the importance of capitalising on the talent this country has. Support from SkillSet will help to give Raw Talent Academy a real overview of the markets it supplies into. Tailoring training to the skills of the individuals and the needs of the companies is what helps Raw Talent Academy really make a difference.”

As academy director, Lee will take a hands-on approach by personally mentoring individual candidates and provide them with comprehensive, modular sales training. With many years’ experience in sales and sales management, Lee has designed each training programme to provide targeted support and development for all sales staff sourced for each business that starts an academy. SkillSet’s support, and the company’s experience of complex organisations, will help Raw Talent Academy provide effective training across all business sectors.
