SkillSet's Sue Bird to present at World of Learning 2011: ‘Global learning programmes – can one size ever fit all?’

— 30th June 2011, Fleet, UK

SkillSet Ltd today announced that it has been selected to speak at this year’s World of Learning exhibition. The event will take place on 27th and 28th September 2011 at the NEC in Birmingham.

The two-day event, now in its 19th year, will include a free educational seminar programme which will offer practical advice on some of the key issues affecting L&D professionals. Sue Bird, director of operations at SkillSet, will present on the first day of the exhibition – Tuesday 27th September. During her presentation, entitled ‘Global learning programmes – can one size ever fit all?’, Sue will discuss the factors that organisations need to address when deploying global learning programmes

.
Sue commented: “Today’s large-scale learning roll-outs may involve audiences who are literally spread across the globe. When deploying global learning programmes, organisations need to ensure that they engage diverse audiences in ways that are appropriate and effective”.

Sue continued: “It’s not unusual for organisations to want to roll-out the same learning solution to multiple countries. But can one design ever fit all? If it can, then how can such a programme be successfully built, managed and evaluated?

A successful global learning programme involves much more than simply translating the content. Organisations need to fully understand their audiences from the earliest design phase and create learning programmes that deliver results across language, cultural, geographical and time boundaries.”
