Development of the Business Online Support Service (BOSS) portal to support businesses in Wales.

SkillSet has developed the portal and eLearning content, covering a range of subjects relevant to businesses in Wales, as well as supporting, managing and hosting the portal for a period of three years. 96 modules were created in both English and Welsh, along with quizzes, forums, live chat and other media, totalling nearly 300 different learning activities.

The customised moodle-based learning management system (LMS) was designed and developed by SkillSet. The LMS was designed to be fully accessible to allow users access to the content via a range of devices, including desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and mobile phones without any degradation of service. The standard moodle site was customised to suit GoW’s requirements, which included reports, the registration process and live chat help and support.

The BOSS portal was populated with SCORM-compliant learning modules created by SkillSet, using content provided to SkillSet by subject matter experts. The content uses a blend of video, animation, sketch books and Storyline2 quizzes as end of module assessments.

SkillSet provided appropriate training for GoW users based on the user’s role, as well as developing reference guides and training users in how to maintain and deliver the training for new starters / job changers in the future.

SkillSet continues to provide support and new development as this solution is becoming more widely utilised across other areas of the Welsh Government.
